Alia's Zigra is a remake of Sanjay Dutt and Sridevi's Gumraah | News India

Mumbai: Alia Bhatt's upcoming film 'Jigra' is claimed to be a remake of Sanjay Dutt and Sridevi's hit film 'Gumrah'. 'Gumrah' was released in 1993 and was the story of how far a lover goes to save his girlfriend. 'Jigra', on the other hand, is the story of a sister who goes to great lengths to save her brother. Apart from this change, most of the story remains the same.

'Gumrah' was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and coincidentally, 'Jigra' has Alia Bhatt as the lead actress as well as co-producer. Since 'Gumrah' was also a Dharma Productions film, there was no issue of rights.

Of course, Karan Johar, notorious for ripping off hit songs from old movies, has also used the hit song 'Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai' from the Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman starrer 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' in this film.
