Mandeep Singh Brar, appointed as new UT home secretary, will join administration on Monday | News India

Chandigarh: After a long wait of about three months, finally on Tuesday, the permanent Home Secretary will be appointed in the UT administration. Mandeep Singh Barar, a 2005 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre, will join the UT administration as Home Secretary on Tuesday. On Monday, the Governor of Haryana has approved his services in the UT administration, relieving Mandeep Singh Barar. On June 14, 2024, Haryana cadre IAS officer Nitin Kumar Yadav was relieved from the post of Home Secretary ahead of time and went on deputation to the Center.

On August 20, the Home Ministry had approved sending Mandeep Brar on a three-year deputation to the Chandigarh Administration, but due to the assembly elections in Haryana, the election code came into force, which left Mandeep worry-free. Brar had sought permission from the Election Commission in this regard. After which on Monday, the Haryana government issued orders for Mandeep Brar to immediately join Chandigarh. 2005 batch IAS officer Brar has previously worked as Deputy Commissioner in Chandigarh for three years.
