Sangrur: Sangrur police has arrested a mechanical engineer along with his two accomplices for stealing from courier company stores in seven districts of Punjab and Haryana. A search is on for members of the interstate gang.
It has been revealed that he has committed eight crimes including two in Sangrur. Police arrested him while he was roaming around Sangrur area to commit theft and recovered Pulsar motorcycle, Rs 1 lakh cash, rod used to break shutters etc. from him. Police is investigating and many crimes are likely to be revealed. He used to do recce before committing theft and then carry out the incident. He has been continuously active for the last two years.
SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal said that in connection with the theft incident at the courier companies' store, cases were registered against unknown persons at Sangrur police station on August 27 and at Bhawanigarh police station on August 30.
Detecting these incidents, Sangrur Police and CIA staff have arrested Ajay Kumar alias Saini resident of Narayangarh currently residing at Balaji Colony Derabassi District SAS Nagar Mohali, Amit Sharma resident of Sirhind District Fatehgarh Sahib and Sunil Kumar resident of SAS Nagar Mohali.
During interrogation, it was found that the kingpin of the said gang is Ajay Kumar Saini and his other partner Amalal Deravasi, Gurvinder Singh resident of SAS Nagar Mohali is also involved in the crimes. Police has also named him in the case.
There are 12 cases of theft registered against the kingpin Ajay Kumar and three cases of theft registered against Amit Sharma. They have stolen from the stores of courier companies in Sangrur, Patiala, Malerkotla, Rupnagar, Hoshiarpur districts of Punjab and Ambala and Yamunanagar districts of Haryana. Ajay Kumar has a diploma in mechanical engineering, while Amit has passed class four.

The members of the said gang used to rob the shop before committing the crime. During recce, when they came to know that there was cash and valuable parcels in the shop, they used to carry out the incidents at night and steal cash and goods from the shop. He has committed more than eight crimes. The police have started searching for his other partner Gurvinder Singh.
