Siliguri, 09 September (HS). A case of gang rape of a mentally challenged woman came to light on Monday in Phansidewa of Siliguri district. One accused has also been arrested in this case. The name of the accused is Mohammad Zahirul while the police have started searching for other accused. On Monday, the police will present the accused in Siliguri court and take him on remand.
According to sources, three youths took the woman with them on Friday night from Murliganj National Highway of Bidhannagar. After this, they took the woman to a field and gang-raped her. Later, the family members found the woman naked from the spot. After the incident, a written complaint was lodged by the victim's family in Bidhannagar police station. After the complaint was lodged, the police arrested a youth in the said case while the search for his accomplices has started. The police is investigating the entire matter.
