East Champaran, September 09 (HS). A one-day state level sugarcane farmer seminar was organized on Monday at a hotel in Harsiddhi of East Champaran district in Bihar. Sugarcane Industry Minister Krishnanandan Paswan, Sugarcane Commissioner Anil Kumar Jha, former District Council Chairman Rajendra Prasad Gupta jointly inaugurated the seminar on 'Increasing sugarcane productivity in Bihar is a challenge' by lighting a lamp.
In the seminar, information was given about the farmer related schemes being run under the Agriculture Roadmap. On this occasion, the Sugarcane Industry Minister, while encouraging the farmers to increase sugarcane production, said that crushing would start in the Riga Sugar Mill in this session itself. He also gave information about the schemes being run under the Jaggery Promotion Program and the Chief Minister Sugarcane Development Scheme. The minister said that the dues of farmers will also be paid at the Riga Sugar Mill. He said that the contract was signed four times for starting the mill. After the contract was cancelled thrice, an industrialist has taken the Riga Sugar Mill. He has about eight sugar mills and he will run the mill.
420 sugarcane farmers from Sugauli, Bagaha, Harinagar and Narkatiaganj participated in this seminar which was held in two sessions. In the first session, the seminar was inaugurated and the guests were welcomed. In the second session, the scientists of Sugarcane Research Institute Pusa, who were involved in the seminar, told the farmers about increasing the production of sugarcane. At the same time, under the financial year 2024-25 State Plan Agriculture Roadmap, the scheme being run under the Chief Minister Sugarcane Development Scheme, the proposed category wise physical and financial target of Sugarcane Mechanical Scheme and the capital grant under the Bihar State Good Promotion Program were given to the farmers by Sunil Kumar Pankaj, Joint Director of Sugarcane Development. The seminar was addressed by MLA and former Sugarcane Industry Minister Pramod Kumar, former MLA Sachindra Singh, social worker Prakash Asthana, Pawan Raj, E Rakesh Gupta, Deepak Sharma and many others. Many farmers were honored in the seminar.
On this occasion, Joint Sugarcane Commissioner Jai Prakash Narayan Singh, Assistant Sugarcane Commissioner Ved Vrat Kumar, Sugarcane Officer Bettiah Remant Jha, Sugarcane Officer Motihari Rahul Kumar, Sugarcane Officer Ramnagar Shri Ram Singh, Kumar Kanan, Pushkar Raj and many other officers were present.
