The incident happened on Sunday night. Sulendra Malik, a resident of Chariyapali village under Tikarpada Panchayat, was sleeping with his family. When the daughters' health deteriorated at night, the whole family woke up. The daughters were having difficulty breathing. Sulendra saw that a snake was roaming nearby. He called his wife for help. After this, all four were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. The three sisters were declared dead in the hospital. At the same time, Sulendra has been referred from Boudh District Hospital to VIMSAR Medical College Burla. According to the information received, Sulendra's condition is also critical.
Every year around 2500 to 6000 people are bitten by snakes in Odisha
Doctors say that it is possible that all three sisters have been bitten by a krait snake. Every year about 2500 to 6 thousand people are bitten by snakes in Odisha. Out of these, 400 to 900 people die every year. At least 1011 people have died due to snake bite in 2023-24. At the same time, this year also 240 people have died due to snake bite. The Odisha government gives an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the family of the snakebite victim.
