Train collides with cylinder on track in Kanpur, major accident averted due to driver's presence of mind – News India Live | News India

A major rail accident was averted late night in Kanpur. A gas cylinder was kept on the track here. Fortunately, the driver stopped the train by applying brakes and informed the authorities. Glass bottles filled with petrol, matchsticks, gunpowder etc. were recovered from the spot. At present, ATS and other agencies have started investigation. However, this is not the first time such an incident has happened in or around Kanpur.

According to Kanpur Police and RPF, Kalindi Express collided with an LPG cylinder placed on the railway track between Barrajpur and Bilhaur on the Anwarganj-Kasganj railway line at around 8.30 pm on September 8. The loco pilot said that he saw some suspicious object on the track, after which he applied brakes, but still the object collided with the train with a loud noise.

The driver informed the train stop guard and others about this. As soon as the incident was reported, the Railway Superintendent of Anwarganj station, RPF and other railway officials reached the spot. When investigated, the police found many dangerous things like cylinders, petrol bottles, matchsticks and gunpowder in the bushes. Forensic teams also investigated and sent all the suspicious items for testing.

Along with this, the team of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and other agencies have reached the spot and started investigation to investigate the incident. Kanpur and Lucknow units of ATS reached the spot and collected evidence. In this case, Additional Commissioner Harish Chandra said that whoever has done this will be caught. Investigate on all points.

The police is investigating from every angle. ADCP LIU has also deployed a team. At present, five teams have been formed by the police to investigate the case. Apart from this, the police has also detained two fanatics, who are being questioned.
