Many people have a habit of eating curd and raw onion with their food. Ayurveda also prohibits eating curd and onion together. This is because both things have different effects. Onion and curd if eaten separately are beneficial for the body but if eaten together it can prove to be dangerous.

Curd is a good source of calcium, phosphorus, vitamin B12. Eating 1 cup of curd daily is beneficial. Onion is also beneficial for the body. But eating onion and curd together is harmful. Eating both together has a bad effect on the body. Therefore, do not add raw onion to the food item in which curd is mixed. Eating it can cause these three problems

Harmful effects of eating curd and onion together

Gastric problem

Eating onion with curd can cause gas, indigestion, acidity and other stomach ailments. Onion contains acidic elements which cause gas in the stomach. Eating it mixed with curd can cause problems like stomach irritation and flatulence.

body temperature

Eating curd and onion together can spoil the body temperature. Onion and curd have different natures. Curd is cold and onion is hot. If both things go into the stomach together, the body temperature can deteriorate. Eating them together can also cause skin problems.

digestive problems

Curd is made from milk. The good bacteria present in curd become pathogens with onions. Onions contain high amounts of sulfur and fiber which affect the fermentation process. Consuming these two things together can cause digestive problems.

If you want to eat onion with curd, then instead of eating raw onion, cook it well and then mix it in curd. Cooking onion reduces the phosphorus present in it, then eating onion with curd does not cause any harm to health.
