Pulses are an important source of protein. Mixing different types of pulses increases their taste and nutritional value. Urad and chana dal are commonly used to prepare various dishes at home. However, preparing a mixture of these makes urad-chana dal a delicious and nutritious dish. Today we are going to share the recipe of making urad-chana dal. If you have not tried it yet, you can include urad-chana dal in your dinner menu. It is easy to make and gets ready in less time. Serve it with roti, paratha or rice.
Material:
Urad dal – 2 cups
Chana dal – 1 cup
Finely chopped onion – 2
Tomato – 2
Green chilli – 3-4
Crushed garlic – 7-8 cloves
Cumin – 1 teaspoon
Kashmiri red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
Chopped coriander – 1/2 cup
Ghee – 3 spoons
salt as per taste
Method:
– First of all, wash urad and chana dal thoroughly and prepare it.
Finely chop onion and tomato and cut green chilli lengthwise.
Add both the pulses, some onion and tomato in the pressure cooker.
– Then add turmeric, red chilli powder, salt and water. – Cover the pressure cooker and cook till 3-4 whistles.
Meanwhile, heat ghee in a pan on medium flame. Add cumin and green chilli.
– After frying for a few seconds, add the remaining onion and cook until it turns golden.
Now, add crushed garlic and continue cooking.
Then, add Kashmiri red chilli powder and mix well.
– When the pressure is released, take out the dal from the cooker and put it in the pan.
Mix the dal with the spices using a spatula.
Adjust the consistency by adding water if necessary and let the dal boil for 8-10 minutes on low flame.
– Cover the pan when it boils. When the dal becomes soft and starts boiling, turn off the flame.
Garnish with finely chopped green coriander and serve hot.
