Mumbai: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly molested in her house by an acquaintance from UP in Kalyan in Thane district. Following the incident, the police arrested the accused Ramesh Muralidhar Yadav (48). The incident took place in Nandivali village in Kalyan on August 19. However, the accused was arrested by the police on Friday after the victim's parents found him and handed him over to the police.
In this regard, an officer of Kalyan-Kolsewadi police station said that the accused Yadav had come to stay at the victim's family's house from UP. During this time, when the victim was trying to keep her toy in the cupboard, the accused touched her inappropriately and molested her. Later the victim told her parents about this.
Following the incident, based on the complaint of the victim's parents, a case was registered at the Kalsewadi police station under sections 74 and 79 of the Indian Judicial Code and the POCSO Act and further action was taken.
In this case, the complaint was delayed because the victim's parents themselves traced the accused after the incident and caught him and handed him over to the police. After this incident, the accused Yadav was produced in the local court and sent to judicial custody.
