Kokrajhar (Assam), 08 September (HS). “Media is considered the fourth pillar of democracy, and our Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) government is committed to the welfare of working media personnel under the visionary leadership of CEM Pramod Bodo.” These words were said by Dr. Nilut Swargiari, EM of BTC's Information and Public Relations, PHE etc. departments while inaugurating the open session of the third annual conference of Bodoland Digital Journalists Association at Bengtol College Auditorium in Chirang district today.
In his address, Dr. Swargiary emphasized the important role of media in maintaining democratic values and elaborated on BTC's commitment to supporting journalists. He said, “I am confident that this institution will achieve great success in the days to come. BTC is dedicated to improving the lives of media professionals through various initiatives.”
He said that one of our flagship programmes is the Journalist Medical Insurance Scheme, which currently covers 82 media personnel and their dependent family members to ensure their well-being. Dr. Swargiary informed that the Information and Public Relations Department of BTC is planning to organize a Media Conclave on Media Act and Rules to enhance media reporting, writing, editing and broadcasting skills.
He said that BTC is considering additional innovative schemes aimed at further advancing the welfare of media personnel. Senior journalist Pranay Bordoloi and senior journalist Ranjan Lal Sharma also addressed the open session.
