Jalandhar: A case has been registered at Barandri police station against Natwarlal Jordan Masih of Ludhiana, who does business of the 150-year-old historic Golak Nath Memorial Church (CNI) in Adarsh Nagar, and his three-four associates. Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma has assigned the responsibility of investigating the case to ACP Bharat Masih. On Saturday, the ACP called the officials of the United Church of North India and the complainant Sarwan Masih to his office and recorded their statements. The search has also been started for Jordan Masih of Ludhiana, who dealt with the church, and Baba Dutt of Jalandhar, who made an agreement with him for Rs 5 crore.
Let us tell you that last Wednesday, on September 3, Amit K Prakash, Secretary of United Church of North India, got information in Ludhiana that Golak Nath Memorial Church of Jalandhar is being sold. Two days later, the registry of more than 24 kanals of land of the church is going to be done in Jalandhar. A person named Jordan Masih of Isa Nagar, Ludhiana is selling the church. He has extorted Rs 5 crore from a person named Baba Dutt living on Ladowali Road, Jalandhar. After this, Amit came to Jalandhar and met Tehsildar Maninder Singh and informed him about this fraud and got the registry stopped. He has also complained about this matter to DC Jalandhar Dr. Himanshu Agarwal. The main accused in the FIR is Jordan Masih.
Conspiracy of cheating by creating fake trust:
Accused Natwarlal Jordan Masih first hatched a fraud conspiracy by forming a fake trust in the name of United Church North India to sell the historic church of Jalandhar. It is being told that he had made an agreement of five crores in the name of this fake trust. Even the Khasra number of the church land is written in the agreement. Police officials say that the investigation will find out where this agreement was made and how much truth is there in it
The church was built in 1895:
Golak Nath Memorial Church was built in 1895. It was named after Golak Nath Chatterjee. Golak Nath was originally from Kolkata. He came to Punjab from Kolkata. At the age of 14, he started protesting against religion, caste and lack of education for women. After coming to Punjab, he started preaching Christianity. He died in 1891. Pastor Betty Newtry built this church in his memory in 1895. This church is included in historical buildings. The history of this church is also related to the Kapurthala princely state. It is said that Raja Harnam Singh was married to the daughter of Golak Nath. He used to come to learn English from him. After this, Raja Harnam Singh also built many hospitals.
