Kolkata, 07 September (HS). After the death of a young man named Vikram Bhattacharya (22) due to lack of treatment at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, his mother Kavita Das has raised the demand for justice. She says that her son died in agony due to lack of treatment and the doctors responsible for this should be punished. However, she also said that justice should be done to the doctors, but why should the service in the hospital be stopped?
Vikram, a resident of Konnagar, was seriously injured in a road accident. He was first taken to Shrirampur Hospital, but from there he was referred to R.G. Kar Medical College. Kavita alleges that in the hospital there was only running between the emergency department and the outdoor but no doctor was available for treatment. She said that my son died in agony in front of my eyes due to lack of treatment. Eventually his heart failed.
Kavitha says that she wants that the doctors of RG tax should also get justice, but why is 'revenge' being taken on the common people in the name of this. She raised the question, “Don't we want justice for the painful death of a daughter? But today my son died due to lack of treatment.”
Recalling the situation they had to face with their injured son at RG Kar Hospital on Friday, Kavita and her mother Bharti Malakar said that they ran once to the emergency department and once to the outdoor. Kavita said, “We went to the corridor and asked if there was a doctor or not. A madam there said, 'There is none.' Then we went to the outdoor, got a ticket, knocked on the chamber door. A madam came out and said, 'There is no doctor. Please wait.' At that time, blood was flowing from my son's leg.”
The mother of the deceased alleged that no doctor came for a long time. After about one and a half hours, a doctor came to the outdoor and said to stitch the wound and bandage it. After this, he was again taken to the emergency department. There the doctor bandaged it and then he was asked to go to the outdoor building and get it signed by the doctor, but there was no one there. Meanwhile, the son's blood kept flowing.
However, the hospital administration and the protesting doctors say that the young man was admitted around 9-10 am on Friday and he was given the necessary treatment. An X-ray of his leg and a CT scan of his head were also done. But Vikram's mother claims that her son's CT scan was not done. She says that when he was being taken for X-ray, he started becoming unconscious and within no time, he stopped breathing.
