Athletics Goa Challengers beat Bengaluru Smashers at UTT for the second consecutive year | News India

With the help of a brilliant performance by Gujarat's star player Harmeet Desai, Athlete Goa Challengers continued their title journey by defeating PBG Bangalore Smashers 8-4 in the first semi-final of the Indian Oil Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT). Goa Challengers maintained their dominance against Smashers from the very beginning.

Goa Challengers took an early lead. Mihai Bobocica ended Alvaro Robles' unbeaten season with a 2-1 (11-8, 11-7, 7-11) win in the first men's singles. Yangjie Liu doubled the Challengers' lead by defeating world No. 25 Manika Batra 4-11, 11-7, 11-4 in the women's singles. In mixed doubles, the pair of Manika and Alvaro defeated the pair of Yangjie and Haram 2-1. However, for Goa Challengers, Harmeet Desai fought back to beat young Jeet Chandra 3-0 (11-5, 11-9, 11-8). Harmeet was declared the best player of the match.
