Paris Paralympics: India wins gold in high jump, bronze in shot put, wins 27 medals so far | News India

Paris Paralympics 2024: India has won the 27th medal at the Paris Paralympics. Hokato Hotoje Sema won the bronze medal in the men's shot put F-57 final. He threw his personal best of 14.65 meters. India's Soman Rana finished 5th in the same event. He scored 14.07.

Earlier, Praveen Kumar won the gold medal in the men's high jump T-64 final on Friday. He created an Asian record by jumping 2.08 meters. This is India's sixth gold medal in these Paralympic Games.

With the help of Praveen Kumar, India has reached 17th position in the medal list. Indian athletes have won 6 gold, 9 silver and 12 bronze medals so far. This is India's best performance in the Paralympics so far. Earlier in the Tokyo Paralympics, Indian athletes had won 19 medals including 5 gold.

Hokato Hotose Sema won the bronze medal

Hokato Hotoje Sema performed brilliantly and won the bronze medal in the men's shot put F-57 final. He threw his personal best of 14.65 meters. In the same event, Iran's Yasin Khosravi won the gold medal with a throw of 15.96 meters, while Brazil's Thiago Paulino dos Santos won the silver medal with a throw of 15.06 meters.

India's sixth gold

Praveen performed brilliantly in the men's high jump T-64 final and won the gold medal. He created an Asian record by jumping 2.08 meters. Derek Loxdent of America won the silver medal with a jump of 2.06 meters, while Tamurbek Giyazov of Uzbekistan won the bronze medal with a personal best jump of 2.03 meters.

Kapil Parmar won the bronze medal

Earlier on Thursday night, Kapil Parmar won a bronze medal for India in the Judo men's J-1 category. He Brazil Kapil defeated K Aliton de Oliveira 10-0 in just 33 seconds. Before Kapil, the mixed archery team of Harvinder Singh and Pooja also lost the bronze medal match.
