Ganesh Chaturthi fast story: According to mythology, this is the time of marriage of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Preparations for the marriage were going on. All the gods and goddesses, Gandharvas and sages were invited to the marriage. But Ganesh ji was not invited to this marriage.

During Lord Vishnu's wedding procession, all the gods and goddesses noticed that Lord Ganapati was nowhere to be seen in the procession. Everyone wanted to know whether Ganapati was not invited to the wedding or he came to the wedding on his own will. The gods asked Lord Vishnu the reason for Ganesha's absence.

Lord Vishnu replied that Lord Shiva has been invited. If Ganesha wants to come with him, he can come. It was also said that Ganesha eats a lot. In such a situation, how can we take him to someone else's house and feed him a full meal? Hearing this, one of the gods suggested that they call Ganapati, but leave him here to protect Vishnuloka. This will eliminate the worry of not being invited and also eliminate the worry of his food. Everyone liked this solution.

On the request of all the gods, Ganeshji stayed there but he became angry. Then Narad Muni came there and asked him the reason for not going in the wedding procession. Ganeshji told the reason for this. He also said that he is angry with Lord Vishnu. Devrishi told Ganeshji that if you send an army of rats and dig the path before January, then everyone will understand your importance. The army of rats dug the ground ahead while asking permission from Ganapati. Lord Vishnu's chariot got stuck in the ground there. Despite trying a lot, no god could take that chariot out of the pit.

Devarshi told the Gods that this has happened because of angering Lord Ganesha, the destroyer of obstacles. So now they should convince him. All the Gods reached Ganesha and worshiped him. After this, the chariot came out of the pit, but its wheels were broken. The Gods then started thinking what to do now. They called Khati from the nearby field. Khati worshiped Lord Ganesha and fixed the wheels. After which all the Gods and Goddesses understood the importance of worshiping the first destroyer of obstacles, Lord Ganesha. After this, the wedding was completed without any hindrance.
