'Madhabi Puri Buch is taking rent from a company under SEBI', Congress again makes serious allegation | News India

SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Buch News : Congress has again made serious allegations against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch. The party alleges that, 'Madhabi has leased her property to the company which is being investigated by SEBI.'

Madhabi rented a property while she was a premature member

Congress leader Pawan Khera said, 'When Madhabi was a full-time member of SEBI in 2018-19, he had given one of his properties on rent. The rent of this property was Rs 7 lakh in 2018-19, this rent has increased to Rs 36 lakh in 2019-20, while in 2023-24 it has increased to Rs 46 lakh. This property was leased to Carol Info Services Limited, a subsidiary of Walkhart Limited.'

Wockhardt Ltd under SEBI's scrutiny

He said that SEBI is investigating the insider trading case against Wockhardt Limited. While SEBI is investigating this case, Madhavi Buch is the chairperson of SEBI. This is not just a conflict of interest but a complete case of corruption. Is this ethical, is this legal?

Accused of taking salary from bank even while being SEBI chairman

Earlier, the Congress had alleged that, 'Madhabi Buch received Rs 16.80 crore from ICICI Bank, ICICI Prudential, ESOP despite working as the Chairman of SEBI. She used to get more salary from the private bank than from SEBI. However, the bank denied the allegations of the Congress and said that after Madhabi's retirement, she was not given salary but 'retirement benefit'.

The Hindenburg exploded a fortnight ago

About a fortnight ago, Hindenburg had criticised that Sebi chairman Butch Adani had participated in the investigation of January 2023 complaints against Adani despite being an investor in shell companies and the money being used for financial misappropriations in Adani group companies and Adani was given a clean chit as his interests were not linked. Responding to the allegation, Butch admitted that he and his husband were investors in the fund but said the allegations amounted to defamation of India and Sebi. The finance ministry, under which Sebi falls, has remained silent on the matter. The government did not react but the BJP campaigned that Hindenburg is anti-India.
