On the 9th day of Paris Paralympics, India's 21-year-old para athlete Praveen Kumar managed to win the gold medal in the high jump T64 final event. This is India's 26th and sixth gold medal in Paris Paralympics. Praveen Kumar won the gold medal by making an excellent high jump of 2.08 meters.
This is India's 11th medal in the high jump event in the history of Paralympics so far. 21-year-old para athlete Praveen Kumar from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, became the second Indian to win a gold medal in high jump at the Paralympics after Mariyappan Thangavelu.

In the high jump T64 final event, Praveen Kumar defeated para athletes from America and Uzbekistan. While Praveen jumped 2.08 meters, American para athlete Derek Lokident won the silver medal with a high jump of 2.06 meters. Uzbekistan's Temurbek Giyazov managed to win the bronze medal by jumping 2.03 meters. Earlier, Praveen Kumar had won the silver medal in the Tokyo Paralympics.
