Fatehabad, September 5 (HS). Fatehabad district police arrested three people including two women travelling in a car near village Gorakhpur and recovered huge amount of poppy husk from them. Anti Narcotics Cell Fatehabad in-charge said on Thursday that the Anti Narcotics Cell Fatehabad Police team under the leadership of ASI Kuldeep Singh was on patrol to nab drug smugglers in view of the assembly elections.
When the team reached village Kajalheri, they received information that Ramesh son of Gyanchand resident of Aharwan, Nimmo wife of Gurcharan resident of Kanal and Raj Kaur wife of Sukhwinder resident of Mirana, all three together sell poppy husk and have been caught with narcotics earlier also. Today also, all three are bringing a large quantity of poppy husk from Rajasthan in a car. On this information, the police team started checking vehicles by setting up a blockade on the Bhuna Road Canal Bridge in village Gorakhpur. After some time, a car was seen coming from Gorakhpur.
Seeing the police blockade, the car driver panicked and tried to turn the car back but the police personnel showed promptness and stopped the car and caught the two women and the driver. During interrogation, they told their names as Ramesh, Raj Kaur and Nimmo. When the police searched the car, 16 kg each, i.e. a total of 80 kg poppy husk was recovered from 5 plastic bags kept in it. On this, the police arrested all three and registered a case against them under the NDPS Act in Police Station Bhuna.
