Jodhpur, March 5 (Hindustan Reporter) Under the joint aegis of Indian Arid Zone Research Organization and Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Jodhpur, a three-day conference on challenges in achieving sustainable agricultural development goals in agro-ecosystem was held in Kajri. 250 scientists and researchers from different states of the country participated in the conference. Experts brainstormed for three days on the challenges faced by the development of agriculture in dry areas, coastal areas and hilly areas due to climate change and made necessary recommendations to solve the problems, which will be sent to the policy makers.
Dr. OP Yadav, Chief Guest and Director of Kajri, in his address suggested to focus on future agricultural practices through advancement of cutting-edge technologies. He stressed the need to integrate all aspects of science to achieve the goal of sustainable development. Expressing happiness over the number of women researchers among the participants, she highlighted their role in the challenging agricultural ecosystem. Head of Department Dr. P. Santara and Principal Scientist Dr. Mahesh Kumar also discussed various important points of the conference. Conference Convenor Dr. Vipin Chaudhary thanked all the respected speakers and participants for their valuable contributions. The conference highlighted the need to prioritize research and development efforts for climate-resilient crop and livestock varieties, integrating innovative mechanization and energy-efficient practices to increase productivity and reduce environmental impacts. The conference emphasized collaboration between farmers and researchers that can help in the adoption of transformative technologies and policies for sustainable development in challenging agro-ecologies.
During this, the Best Poster Award was given to Dr. Rakesh, Dr. Anjali, Kiran Rani of PAU Ludhiana and Dr. Sundar Anchra, Amarjeet Kumar of Kajri Jodhpur. The program was conducted by Principal Scientist Dr. Rajwant Kaur Kalia and Senior Scientist Archana Verma expressed vote of thanks.
