Shimla, 26 August (HS). The monsoon session of Himachal Vidhansabha is starting from Tuesday. There will be a total of 10 meetings in the session which will run till 9th September. During this time 936 questions will be raised. Vidhansabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said that in this session information of a total of 936 questions has been received from the members in which 640 questions are starred (516 online, 124 offline) and 296 questions are unstarred (248 online and 48 offline). The information received through questions is mainly based on Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi, flood, merger of schools, situation arising out of recent heavy rainfall and natural calamity in the state, efforts made by the government to deal with the disaster, construction of roads, bridges, repair of approved roads, upgradation of colleges, schools, health institutions etc. in the state and filling of vacant posts in various departments, tourism, gardens, supply of drinking water, prevention of increasing drug abuse among youth, increasing criminal cases and solar energy and transport system. Apart from this, the candidates have also highlighted the main issues related to their respective constituencies through questions.
Kuldeep Singh Pathania said that 7 notices under Rule 62, 1 notice under Rule 63, 10 notices under Rule 101, 20 under Rule 130 and 4 notices under Rule 324 have been received from the members.
Meanwhile, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania organised an all-party meeting on Monday to conduct the monsoon session. However, no opposition member attended the meeting. On this, the Speaker said that opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur has cited health reasons. The Speaker has appealed to all the members for cooperation in conducting the session.
He said that this is an important session in which 10 meetings are being held. He has urged all the members to make good use of the time of the House to raise issues related to public interest and discuss them. He said that the members can raise issues related to the state's interest and their respective constituencies in the House and the government is also ready to answer them.
