Mumbai: There has been an increase of 5.68 percent in the passenger numbers and earnings of Central Railway till November in the current financial year. The total income during this period was Rs 4966 crore which was Rs 4699 crore last year.
According to the first data, in the ongoing financial year till the month of November, Central Railway has earned Rs 4,328 crore from non-urban passengers and Rs 638 crore from the suburban section. Revenue from non-suburban segment was Rs 4095 crore and from suburban segment was Rs 604 crore in the same period last year. In which an increase of 5.68 percent has been recorded.
In terms of passenger numbers, Central Railways carried 1.064 billion passengers till November, compared to 1.039 billion last year. That means the number of tourists has increased by 2.35 percent. In this current year, 93.6 crore tourists were in the suburban segment. In the month of November alone, 13.8 crore passengers traveled in the non-suburban/suburban section of Central Railway and last year the number was 12.2 crore. In the month of November, Central Railway received tourist revenue of Rs 554 crore.
