8th Pay Commission: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present the Union Budget 2024-25 on July 23. Therefore, demands are coming from different sections before the budget. In this budget, the Central Government Employees Union has also sent a proposal to the Cabinet Secretary which includes many demands.
Among all the demands of the employees, the formation of the 8th Pay Commission is one of the most prominent demands. In a letter written to the Cabinet Secretary on July 6, the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers has made several demands before Budget 2024. Apart from this, a proposal to form the 8th Pay Commission has also been given to the government. The Modi government, which has come to power for the third time, can form the Eighth Pay Commission in the budget.
Budget may bring good news for government employees
This budget can bring good news for government employees. The central government has to make full-fledged budget plans by 2024. Budget A proposal has been received to form the 8th Pay Commission before the 8th Pay Commission. The proposal for the 8th Pay Commission has been sent to the Modi government. So that the Pay Commission can review the basic salary, allowances, pension and other benefits for central government employees and pensioners.
Shiv Gopal Mishra, secretary of the Joint Consultative Mechanism of the National Employees Council for Central Government Employees, has written a letter to the Cabinet Secretary urging the government to form the 8th Pay Commission. The Central Pay Commission is constituted every 10 years. It examines the existing salary structure, allowances and benefits of central government employees and suggests necessary changes based on factors such as inflation.
7th pay commission came in 2014
The 7th Pay Commission was introduced on 28 February 2014 by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Its recommendations came into effect from 1 January 2016. This will be the first time a new pay commission will be constituted during the tenure of the Modi government. The 8th Central Pay Commission is proposed to begin from January 1, 2026, as per the usual ten-year interval. However, the government is yet to formally announce its formation.
