8 people including 3 Chinese nationals arrested from marriage hall for marrying Nepalese minor girl

Kathmandu, 24 October (Hindustan Reporter). Police have arrested 8 people for marrying a minor girl and supporting it. The police raided a temple in Sunsari district at the time of marriage and arrested these eight people from the pavilion itself. Three Chinese citizens are also among those arrested.

After receiving information about the marriage of a minor girl with a foreign national in Sunsari district, the police raided the marriage temple and stopped the marriage. There the police came to know that a Chinese citizen was being married to a minor girl from Nepal. The police also arrested the Chinese citizen who was the groom and two other Chinese citizens who had come as wedding guests. Apart from this, five other people present there including the married girl and her father were also detained by the police and interrogated in the police station.

Sunsari district police SP Suman Timalsina said that this marriage has been stopped by raiding the temple of Auliya Baba in Chatra of the district. According to SP Timalsina, 33-year-old Chinese national Li Teng was arrested while marrying a minor girl in the temple. attend this wedding

Deepak Darji, 43, of Udaipur, Badri Vikram Rai, 42, Sheetal Gurung, 20, of Syangja, Roshni Maya Tamang, 20, have been arrested. Similarly, Chinese citizens Dong Shihao, 35, and Wu Hejie have also been arrested.

All those arrested were produced in the District Court Sunsari and have been kept in police remand for questioning. The age of marriage in Nepal is fixed at 20 years for boys and 18 years for girls. Those who marry a minor, arrangers and participants in such marriages have all been made guilty under the law.
