Selection of new Chief Justice for different states: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of new Chief Justices in eight different High Courts of the country. The Collegium headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has recommended the names of Chief Justices for Delhi, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Meghalaya and Madras High Courts. They will be appointed as soon as the central government approves it. The Collegium of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai has approved the proposal.
These eight High Courts will get new Chief Justices
According to the report, Justice Manmohan of Delhi High Court has been recommended to be made the Chief Justice. He is currently the Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Dr. Since BR Sarangi is retiring on July 19, 2024, Justice MS Ramachandra Rao is proposed to replace him as Chief Justice. He is currently the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court.
Delhi High Court judge Rajiv Shakdhar has been recommended to be appointed as the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court and another Delhi High Court judge Suresh Kait has been recommended to be appointed as the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. An appeal has been made to the Punjab and Haryana High Court to appoint him as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. The Collegium has appealed to appoint Bombay High Court judge Nitin Jamdar as the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court.
Jammu and Kashmir High Court judge Tashi Rabstan has been recommended as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court. The current Chief Justice Vaidyanath is retiring on August 16. Justice KR Sriram has been recommended as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court. He is currently serving as a judge of the Bombay High Court.
