Bandhavgarh National Park: There has been an uproar across the country due to the death of 8 elephants in 48 hours in Bandhavgarh National Park of Madhya Pradesh. After the suspicious death of four elephants on Tuesday, four elephants also died on Wednesday. According to sources, the preliminary report of the investigation team from Bhopal along with the Center has revealed that either these elephants have accidentally consumed some poisonous substance or they have been fed poisonous substance. Among the dead elephants, there is one male and 7 female elephants.

Herd of 13 elephants came to Salkhaniya area

According to the information, 13 elephants were roaming in Khatauli and Salkhania area of ​​Pator range of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, but four of them died suspiciously on Tuesday, while the condition of five is said to be critical, out of which four also died on Wednesday. Elephants died. All these elephants were found unconscious in an area of ​​200 meters, after which battery doctors of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve including Jabalpur, Umaria and Katti were called but the lives of four elephants could not be saved. A team of two officers is monitoring the remaining elephants.

What was found in postmortem?

A team of 8 doctors conducted the postmortem of the dead elephants. In the post-mortem and preliminary investigation, doctors have also expressed suspicion that the death may have been caused by poison from fruits like poisonous khurani or kodo kutki. The investigation also focuses on whether the poison was given intentionally or whether the elephants died due to pesticides in crops.

Wildlife Crime Control Bureau formed SIT

Seeing the seriousness of the incident, the matter reached the Centre, after which the Central Government took cognizance and apart from Bhopal STF, Wildlife Crime Control Bureau has also formed its SIT team. The STF appointed in the case searched the nearby fields and seven houses. Apart from this, the investigation team is also investigating various places including illegal hunting and poisoning within a radius of 5 kilometers.
