There has been a jump of 4 percent in this. Dearness allowance of employees will reach 50 percent. But, there will be many big changes for central employees in the first half of the year. Expectations are very high in view of the Lok Sabha elections. Apart from dearness allowance, the biggest announcement can also be regarding Travel Allowance (TA). Now we just wait for the approval of increase in dearness allowance. The Union Cabinet can approve it in the month of March. After this there will be a rise in other allowances also.
When will there be an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA)?
First of all, there has to be an increase in the dearness allowance of central employees. It will get approval from the government in March 2024. The AICPI index numbers from July to December 2023 have confirmed that central employees will get 50 percent dearness allowance. There has been a 4 percent increase in dearness allowance. The current DA rate is 46 percent.
Traveling Allowance (TA) will also increase
The most important thing for the employees will be traveling allowance. After DA, there may also be a rise in Travel Allowance (TA). If travel allowance is combined with salary pay band, the increase in DA can be even higher. Traveling Allowance is linked to different pay bands. In high TPTA cities, traveling allowance for Grade 1 to 2 is Rs 1800 and Rs 1900. Grade 3 to 8 gets Rs 3600 + DA. Whereas, for other places this rate is Rs 1800+DA.
There will be amendments in HRA also
A major change may also be seen in the House Rent Allowance (HRA) of employees. This will also be amended after the DA increase in March. Actually, according to the rules, if the dearness allowance exceeds 50 percent, it will be amended. At present HRA is given at the rate of 27, 24, 18 percent. It is divided into category Z, Y, X cities. If dearness allowance is 50 percent then HRA will also increase to 30, 27, 21 percent.
3 gifts confirmed for central employees
Three gifts will be confirmed for central employees in March 2024. First, increase in dearness allowance, second, increase in traveling allowance and third, amendment in HRA. It is expected that their new rates can be decided before Holi 2024. Usually, the government announces the dearness allowance to be implemented from January in March. In such a situation, dearness allowance will be approved only in March 2024. There is going to be a revision of 3 percent in the maximum range of HRA. Because, dearness allowance will be 50 percent. At the same time, traveling allowance will also increase according to the grade.
