Usually DA is revised twice a year. According to experts, if the Center increases DA before Holi, then the outstanding salary of two months due at the end of March will also be paid. The increase in dearness allowance is calculated on the basis of the latest Industrial Labor Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW) released every month by the Labor Bureau.
The Center takes decisions in this regard as per the rules prescribed for employees and pensioners. The last time the Center amended DA was in October 2023. After this, after 4 percent DA increase, the total dearness allowance and dearness relief will increase to 50 percent.
