New Delhi, May 27 (HS). The 77th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA) began in Geneva on Monday. During this annual meeting, India's Health Secretary Apurva Chandra held a bilateral meeting with Japan. According to the Health Ministry, in this bilateral meeting, both the countries agreed to work on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2018 and to organize a joint working group soon.
Expanding areas of cooperation between the two countries in digital health, use of AI in health, elderly care, non-communicable diseases were also discussed in this meeting. Along with this, emphasis was also laid on strengthening the ongoing program on training of nursing professionals in Japanese language for opportunities in Japan.
It is noteworthy that the 77th session of the WHA is being held in Geneva from 27 May to 1 June. The delegation of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India is being led by Union Health Secretary Apoorva Chandra. Representatives from 194 countries will participate in the program organized for the framework of the global health ecosystem. This year's theme of WHA is 'All for Health, Health for All'.
The World Health Assembly (WHA) will have a detailed discussion on its universal coverage through Ayushman Bharat, public health on emergency preparedness and digital health transformation in the country. An indigenous portal equipped with innovative tools designed to enhance disaster response and medical help will also be showcased at this annual event organized by the World Health Organization (WHO).
