75th Van Mahotsav: Ahmedabad Social Forestry Department organized 75th Van Mahotsav – 2024 Under the campaign 'Ek Ped Maan Ke Naam', Ahmedabad district level tree plantation program was organized at Rai University, Dholka under the chairmanship of Shishpal Singh Rajput, Chairman of Yoga Board.
On this occasion, Yoga Board President Shishpalji said that due to global warming, human life on earth is moving towards insecurity. The main reason for this is the reduction in trees. 75 years ago, Gujarat Agriculture Minister's grandson and environmentalist Kanaiyalal Munshi started celebrating Van Mahotsav as a folk festival by calling for tree plantation.
Today we are celebrating the 75th Van Mahotsav. This year Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the 'Ek Pad Maa Ke Naam' campaign. He said that under his successful leadership, tree plantation work is being done enthusiastically from rural areas to urban areas of the municipality.
Talking about Ahmedabad Social Forestry Department, he said that Ahmedabad Social Forestry Department came into existence in 1960. In which the total area of Ahmedabad district is 7170 sq km.
Ahmedabad district has 10593 hectares of reserved forest area and 109 hectares of protected forest area, a total of 10,682 hectares of forest area, this forest area is mainly located in Dholera taluka. The government in coordination with municipal corporations, municipalities, voluntary organizations, gram panchayats, government-semi government institutions, educational institutions, industrial units, health centers is providing free saplings under various schemes to encourage people to plant trees,
