75 Indians rescued from Syria: The situation in Syria has become worrying in recent times. India evacuated 75 Indian nationals from Syria, two days after rebel forces ousted President Bashar al-Assad. These Indians will reach India via Lebanon.
Foreign Ministry issued a statement
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the mass evacuation was carried out following assessment of the security situation by the Indian embassies in Damascus and Beirut. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement late last night that the Government of India has today evacuated 75 Indian nationals from Syria following recent incidents in Syria. All Indian nationals have reached Lebanon safely and will return to India through available commercial flights.
Government will monitor the situation closely
The Ministry of External Affairs said that the government gives top priority to the security of Indian citizens abroad. The statement further said that Indian nationals remaining in Syria have been advised to contact the Indian Embassy in Damascus. The Foreign Ministry said the government would keep a close eye on the situation.
