Ahead of CBSE 10th 12th Exam 2025, the Central Board of Secondary Education has once again reminded its affiliated schools that 75 percent attendance of the student is mandatory to appear in the board exam. If a student's school attendance is less than 75 percent, he or she will be ineligible to appear for the board exams. CBSE has said in its guidelines that the board can give 25 percent relaxation in some cases like medical emergency, participation in national sports or any other serious reason etc. To get this relief, the student will have to show the relevant documents.
The board has directed schools to inform students about this. “Schools should regularly monitor and maintain attendance records,” the official notice said. The attendance register should be updated daily. It should be signed by the class teacher and the competent authority of the school. It should be easily available for inspection by CBSE at any time.
The Central Board has reiterated its guidelines at a time when it is very strict against dummy schools. Dummy schools are those schools where the attendance of the students is recorded without them actually coming. This is against CBSE rules. Recently, CBSE had issued notices to many schools in Delhi and Rajasthan after conducting surprise inspection and finding irregularities. Actually, 'dummy schools' are like normal schools, here only students preparing for JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET exams etc. do not need to come for regular classes. These are also called non-attending schools. A large number of students preparing for engineering and medical entrance exams (entrance exams like JEE Main and NEET) prefer to take admission in 'dummy schools' so that they can focus only on preparing for the competitive exams. they do not attend classes
Apart from this, CBSE has also said in the notice that the board can also conduct surprise inspections to check the attendance records of the students. During such inspections, if it is found that records are incomplete or it is found that students are not coming to school regularly, then strict action can be taken against the school. The recognition of the school can also be cancelled. Students may be disqualified from appearing for the board examinations.
Complete 9th and 11th registration by 16th October
CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to ensure that 100 percent registration of class 9 and 11 students studying in their schools is completed by October 16. The board has decided that next year when LOC will be filled, no student will be registered by the board. It has been observed that while submitting LOC, some schools are informing CBSE that some of their students were left out of registration last year due to the following reasons:
— The student was unwell and was admitted to the hospital.
– The clerk accidentally released the student
– technical error
— name removed
— The student was not in the relevant area, etc.
