7-year-old boy dies of dengue in Rajkot, district health system unaware

Dengue Cases Increase In Gujarat

Rajkot: Dengue cases are increasing amid the rainy season, along with the outbreak of Aedes mosquitoes. Last Monday, 9 more dengue cases were reported in the health data released by the Municipal Corporation Health Department. Also, the number of dengue patients undergoing treatment in private hospitals has also not been provided by the system. It has been learned that a seven-year-old child died of dengue yesterday, but the Municipal Corporation Health Department does not have information about this patient, the health department has denied death due to dengue.

The Aedes mosquitoes, which breed in clean water, have started gaining strength due to the cloudy weather and rain showers for the last 20 days. During the door-to-door health campaigns by the Municipal Health Department, 9 cases of dengue were detected last Monday. In contrast, not many dengue cases have been detected in the private hospitals undergoing treatment.

As a result, only the statistics of the health related work done by the municipal corporations are available. In which a seven year old child died yesterday.

According to sources, the child was admitted to Saurashtra Hospital near Rajnagar Chowk on Nanamauva Main Road for treatment. It is known that he died during treatment after his report came dengue positive. An anti-dengue campaign has been started by the Municipal Corporation Health Department.

Although the system has failed to get the data of dengue patients from hospitals, a child died of dengue yesterday. However, it is said that the health department has no information about this and the child did not die of dengue.

In such a situation, it seems that amid the increasing cases of dengue, the health department is also disclosing the figures and hiding the details of deaths due to dengue.

It is known that many dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment in private hospitals in Rajkot city. Door-to-door work is mostly done in slum areas or middle-class areas. The health department team never visits the homes of rich families for investigation. Therefore, when dengue cases are reported in such families, they are treated in private hospitals. Therefore, the exact number of so many dengue patients is never revealed. In such a situation, this has also happened in the case of a child dying after treatment at Saurashtra Hospital.
