Gujarat's Dron Desai entered the record books by scoring 498 runs during the Diwan Ballubhai Cup Under-19 Multi-Day Tournament. He wreaked havoc on the field with his innings. On Tuesday, Dron played this brilliant innings for his school St. Xavier's (Loyola) against JL English School at Shivaay Cricket Ground in Gandhinagar.

The tournament was organised by the Central Board of Cricket Ahmedabad

Dron Desai faced 320 balls during his marathon innings, which included 7 sixes and 86 fours. According to a report, this annual tournament is organized by the Central Board of Cricket Ahmedabad which comes under the Gujarat Cricket Association.

Drona missed 500 runs

After the match, Drona said that he was disappointed that he missed out on touching the 500-run mark because he did not know that he was so close to this record. There was no scoreboard in the ground and no one told him that while batting on 498, I played a stroke and got out but I am happy that I was able to score that run.

He talked about his journey

In an interview, Drona said- I started playing cricket at the age of 7 and my father motivated me a lot because he felt that I had the potential to become a good cricketer. From class 8 to 12, I used to go to school only for my exams. I will continue playing cricket and hopefully one day I will make a name for myself.

Pranav Dhanawade scored an unbeaten 1009 runs

Dron Desai has become the sixth batsman of the country to score such a big score. Before this, Mumbai's Pranav Dhanawade (1009 not out), Prithvi Shaw (546), Dr. Hewwala (515), Chamanlal (506 not out) and Armaan Jaffer (498) have been the batsmen who scored the most runs in an innings.
