7 Indians killed, 50 missing, two buses stuck in river due to landslide in Nepal

A major tragedy has occurred in the neighboring country Nepal. Due to a landslide, two buses got stuck in the strong current of the Trishuli river. More than 50 people, including seven Indians, are missing in this tragedy. According to information, there were a total of 65 passengers in both the buses. This terrible accident happened at 3:30 in the morning. The accident took place on the highway in Simaltal area of ​​Chitwan district.

A senior official of Nepal's Chitwan district informed about this tragedy. A bus going from Birgunj to the capital Kathmandu and a private bus going from the capital to Gaur were swept away in the landslide that occurred at 3:30 in the morning. There were 24 passengers in one bus and 41 in the other bus. There were 21 passengers including seven Indians in a private bus going from Birgunj to Kathmandu. Three passengers in the bus jumped from the bus. Thus they were saved from falling into the water flow along with the debris. Police said that the search for all the passengers of both the buses is in full swing.

Nepal's Prime Minister expressed grief

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal tweeted and expressed condolences on the accident and tragedy in Nepal. I further wrote to him that I was deeply saddened to learn that about five dozen tourists were unharmed due to the landslide and property was damaged due to floods and landslides. All government agencies, including the home administration machinery in various parts of Nepal, have been instructed to search for and rescue tourists.

One person died after a stone fell on a bus

In another incident in Nepal, 17 km away from this accident, a person died after a rock fell on another tourist bus. This bus was going to Nepal's capital Kathmandu. The bus driver was seriously injured when the rock fell on him due to the landslide. However, the driver later died during treatment.

Landslides disrupt transportation

According to a government official, armed policemen of Nepal Police carried out rescue operations at the site. Traffic on Narayan Ghat-Mugling road was halted due to landslides in various parts of Nepal. The system said that it will take a long time to restore transport.
