In the second phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand today, 68 percent voting took place on 38 seats. Amidst heavy security, 1.23 crore voters exercised their franchise today.
It is noteworthy that the officials have said in a statement that there was 67.04 percent voting in the 2019 assembly elections. In the first phase of elections on November 13, 66 percent voting took place on 43 seats. On November 13, 1.37 crore voters exercised their franchise.
According to the election officer, till 8 pm tonight, 67.71 percent voting took place. Jamtara district witnessed the highest turnout of 76.16 percent. The lowest turnout was in Bokaro district at 60.97 percent.
Voting started in Jharkhand today at 7 am in 14218 polling stations in 12 districts and continued till 5 pm. Voting time at 31 polling stations was kept till 4 pm.
50 to 70 percent voting took place in the by-elections held on a total of 15 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala and Uttarakhand. By-elections were held on 9 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 4 seats in Punjab, one seat each in Kerala and Uttarakhand.
Voting was 70.51 percent in Kerala, 63 percent in Punjab, 57.64 percent in Uttarakhand and 49.3 percent in Uttar Pradesh.
