63.21 percent people voted in the fifth phase in Jharkhand: Neha Arora

Ranchi, May 22 (HS). Additional Chief Election Officer Dr. Neha Arora said that 63.21 percent people have voted in the fifth phase of elections. 68.92 percent voting has taken place in the by-election of Gandey assembly constituency. She said that the specialty of voting in these three parliamentary constituencies has been that more women have voted here than men. In all the 16 assembly constituencies of these three Lok Sabha constituencies, women have outnumbered men in voting.

The Additional Chief Electoral Officer was addressing the press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurwa on Wednesday. She informed that the voting percentage of women was the highest in Bagodar Assembly constituency of Koderma Parliamentary constituency as compared to men. Here men voted 53.23 percent and women voted 74.49 percent, that is women voted 21.26 percent more than men. The lowest difference in voting percentage between men and women was in Barkagaon of Hazaribagh Parliamentary constituency. Here women voted 1.46 percent more than men.

The Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, illegal material and cash worth more than Rs 1 billion 28 crore 49 lakh has been seized in Jharkhand.

It is noteworthy that in the fifth phase, voting was held on May 20 in three parliamentary constituencies, Chatra, Hazaribagh and Koderma. Voting was 63.69 percent in Chatra, 61.81 percent in Koderma and 64.39 percent in Hazaribagh.
