Bijapur SP Jitendra Yadav said that the encounter took place on the banks of Talperu river in Chippurbhatti area of Basaguda police station area. The soldiers are investigating the area. Naxalites are in power in 14 districts of the state
Chhattisgarh is the most Naxal affected state. According to the Home Ministry, 14 districts of Chhattisgarh – Balrampur, Bastar, Bijapur, Dantewada, Dhamtari, Gariaband, Kanker, Kondagaon, Mahasamund, Narayanpur, Rajnandgaon, Sukma, Kabirdham and Mungeli are Naxal affected. According to statistics, Naxalite attacks are not decreasing in Chhattisgarh for the last several days. If seen, on an average more than three hundred and fifty Naxalite attacks take place in the state every year. In which an average of 45 soldiers are martyred every year.
More than 300 Naxalite attacks in a year
In March last year, in response to a question in the Lok Sabha, the Home Ministry had presented the figures of Naxalite attacks in Chhattisgarh. According to this, there were 305 Naxalite attacks in the state in 2022. Earlier, the government had told the Parliament that last year till February 2023 (in just two months), 7 soldiers have been martyred in Naxalite attacks in Chhattisgarh.
