6 monasteries will drown due to dam in China, government brutally crushed the movement of Buddhist monks

The Chinese government is making efforts to crush the demonstration of people protesting against the construction of a big dam in China's Sichuan province.

More than 100 people, including Buddhist monks, have been arrested in recent protests. According to media reports, due to the construction of this dam, six Buddhist monasteries and two villages will be submerged and they will have to be relocated. Against which the local people are protesting. Along with the dam, the government is also going to build a 2240 MW hydro power project. People in China rarely oppose such projects. Because the Chinese government is taking strict action against the protesters. In such a situation, local people protesting publicly is also a rare incident.

This dam is being built over the Yangtze River. This river is one of the most important waterways of China. People gathered outside the town hall of the local corporation on 14 February to protest against the dam. There is a sizeable population of Tibetans in this area. The security personnel also beat up the protesters and due to this many people had to be admitted to the hospital. Buddhist monks were also insulted by security personnel and forced to bow before the authorities.

A video of these demonstrations has also gone viral. In this the Buddhist monks are saying that, we are protesting non-violently and will not resort to violence. However, it has been the government's policy to crush any kind of protests in China and under this, strict action was taken against the people carrying out these protests. China is building this hydro project at a cost of 4.6 billion dollars and due to this, six Buddhist monasteries are going to sink. Due to this, 2000 people from other two villages will also be displaced.
