Six rebel MLAs disqualified

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has disqualified six rebel MLAs who rebelled in the Rajya Sabha elections. He said, 'Our secretariat received a complaint by MLA and Minister Harsh Vardhan against six MLAs under the anti-defection law, after which they heard both the sides and gave their decision. The suspended MLAs violated the whip.

What will happen next in Himachal Pradesh?

Congress had 40 MLAs in Himachal Pradesh Assembly. The number required for majority in the 68-member assembly was 35. After the rebellion of six MLAs, the numbers game of Congress has reduced from 40 to 34, which is one less than the number required for majority. But after the disqualification of the rebel MLAs, the strength of the assembly has now reduced to 62. In such a situation, the required figure for majority has now become 32. So at present only Congress is ahead in the assembly.
