6.40 lakh political advertisements removed from Delhi after code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections 2024

Following the model code of conduct implemented under the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Delhi Municipal Corporation removed 2,66,676 hoardings, 2,82,827 posters, banners-wall paintings, 47,178. In which till Thursday, 34,762 flags have been removed from all its 12 zones. According to the information received from MCD, a total of 6,40,408 political advertisements have been removed so far from its 12 assembly constituencies.

MDC removed political advertisements from several areas on Thursday

Importantly, following the Election Commission's order on the Model Code of Conduct, the MCD on Thursday removed a total of 8,965 posters, banners, hoardings and signage from its 12 constituencies. Out of which 1281 hoardings, banners and posters with maximum number of advertisements were removed from Shahdara North Zone. Apart from this, 1,174 advertising banners and posters etc. have been removed from West Zone and 1,010 from South Zone.

Political advertisements were removed from many areas of Delhi

Talking about other zones, there are 571 hoardings from Rohini Zone, 379 from City SP Zone, 850 from Civil Lines Zone, 355 from Karol Bagh, 612 from Narela, 405 from Keshavpuram, 752 from Nakafgarh, 853 and 717 from Central Zone. Political advertisements as well as posters etc. were removed from Polital South Polital.

MDC is following the orders of the Election Commission

813 hoardings, 7127 banners, posters and wall paintings, 617 signs and 408 flags containing political advertisements were removed in a drive conducted by the Delhi Municipal Corporation across all 12 zones of Delhi on Thursday. Following the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the MCD has been continuously complying with the Election Commission's order to remove material related to political advertisements from all its 12 areas.

Lok Sabha elections will be held in Delhi on 25 May

The Election Commission of India announced the schedules for the Lok Sabha elections on 16 March 2024. Under this, voting will be held in 7 phases across the country, starting from April 19. The sixth phase of voting in Delhi is to be held on May 25. The Election Commission had instructed the administrative officials that the Model Code of Conduct will remain in force till the election results are declared. During this period, any type of posters, hoardings or banners promoting any political party or leader should be compulsorily removed from any public place.
