Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot said that the state government is making efforts to ensure that the benefits of the schemes run by the state government reach every disabled person. Social security pension, scooter, motorized tricycle, wheel chair, tricycle etc. are being provided to the disabled people in the state as per their need and eligibility.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister was addressing the state level Divyangjan Award felicitation ceremony organized at Bhagwant Singh Mehta Auditorium located at OTS.
In the programme, 59 best specially abled persons and best individuals and organizations working for the specially abled persons selected under various categories were honored with an amount of Rs 10,000, citation and prize.
He said that the World Day for Persons with Disabilities is celebrated every year on 3rd December by the Central Government, on the same lines, the State Government celebrates the best specially abled persons working in the field of welfare of specially abled persons and the best individuals and institutions working in the field of specially abled persons in various categories. Is honored.
Gehlot said that this will encourage individuals and institutions working in the field of disabled people and the society will be able to know about the work done by them and their talents. He said that the disabled people are definitely benefiting from the work being done by these institutions. At the same time, they are also proving to be a source of inspiration for other institutions working in the field of disabled people and disabled people in our society.
He said that 29 medals were won by disabled people in the Para Olympic Games of 2024, which presents the picture of a changing India. He said that if disabled people are given training then they can do better.
Gehlot said that Prime Minister Modi had started the Accessible India Campaign in the year 2015. The Central Government and the State Government are continuously working to make public places accessible to increase the mobility of persons with disabilities. In the year 2016, instead of seven types of disabilities, 21 types of disability categories were recognised.
Before this, the Social Justice and Empowerment Minister inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. Commissioner and Special Government Secretary for the specially abled H Guite gave information about the works and schemes being done by the Rajasthan Government for the welfare of the specially abled.
During this, the program was also translated through sign language for the specially abled.
