Palamu, May 13 (Hindustan Reporter) Voting for Palamu Lok Sabha elections ended on Monday evening. Voting was held in the fourth phase at the country level, while voting was held in the first phase at the Jharkhand state level. Voting continued from 7 am to 5 pm. In view of the heat, the crowd of voters was more in the morning. Voters of all levels were seen queuing up to vote. Polling centers have been set up in schools, colleges and other government buildings and tight security arrangements have been made at these centres.
District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan told at GLA College on Monday evening that 59.99 percent voting took place till 5 pm. This figure will increase further. If we talk about assembly constituencies, then 60.62 percent voting took place in Daltonganj Assembly, 58.60 in Bishrampur, 59.20 in Chhatarpur, 55.03 in Hussainabad, 62.74 in Garhwa Assembly and 62.11 percent in Bhavanathpur Assembly. Maximum voting took place in Garhwa assembly constituency.
A total of 165 micro observers were deputed at the polling stations to supervise the voting process. In Palamu, 22 lakh 43 thousand 34 voters decided the fate of nine candidates. Everyone's fate is captured in EVM. 2427 polling stations were set up in the entire Lok Sabha constituency. By Monday evening, polling personnel from 2206 booths have returned, while polling personnel from 230 booths will be reporting tomorrow. To conduct fair elections, about 40 company security forces have been deployed in Palamu area.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, voter turnout in Palamu was less than the national average. Palamu district administration had put in all its efforts to increase the voting percentage in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. A target of more than 80 percent voting has been set. Palamu DC had appealed to the people to vote, yet the voting percentage was 59.99 percent.
