In the 124th meeting of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), it was decided to reduce the prices of 54 essential medicines. The NPPA fixes the prices of those medicines in the country which are used by the general public. In the meeting, it was decided to reduce the price of 54 drug formulations and eight special medicines. The 54 medicines whose prices were fixed by the NPPA in this meeting include medicines for diabetes, heart, antibiotics, vitamin D, multivitamins, ear diseases. Earlier, the government had also reduced the prices of many essential medicines last month. Last month, the prices of 41 medicines used by the general public and six special medicines were fixed. Last month, the prices of antibiotics, multivitamins, diabetes and heart related medicines were also reduced. Apart from this, liver medicine, gas and acidity medicine, painkiller, allergy medicine were also made cheaper last month.
