Port-au-Prince, October 04 (HS). At least 50 people were killed in an attack by the armed Savion gang (Gran Griff gang) on Thursday in the small town of Pont-Sonde in the Caribbean country of Haiti. Pont-Sonde is in the commune of Saint-Marc, about 71 kilometers (44 mi) northwest of the capital Port-au-Prince.
According to The Haitian Times newspaper, dozens of other people were injured in the attack by the bandits. Local people have sent messages to police officers requesting help. During this deadly attack by the Gran Griff gang, most of the people fled their homes. According to an official, the exact number of casualties is not yet known. Many injured were immediately taken to Saint-Nicolas Hospital. The attack has caused panic among residents of the Pont Sonde area and neighboring areas such as Saint-Marc.
According to the newspaper, this gang has taken complete control of Pont-Sonde since this morning. Hundreds of families fleeing the attack in Pont-Sonde are currently in the Philippe Guerrier public square in Saint-Marc.
