Chandigarh: A 5-year-old child died in a road accident in Sector-24 on Thursday afternoon. The child was riding a bike with his father and their bike was hit by a speeding car. The child died on the spot while the father was seriously injured. His leg is broken in several places. On the other hand, the accused driver fled leaving the car there. People present nearby say that there were three to four youths in the car who left the spot. The child has been identified as 5-year-old Arnab, a resident of Sector-24. He studied nursery school from Paragon Convent School located in Sector-24. The child's father's name is Pankaj (36) and he works on contract in the Municipal Corporation. The police have registered an FIR and the accused are being searched. The police have also seized the car.
Child trapped under car
At the time of the accident, the child was sitting in the front seat of the bike. As soon as the bike collided with the car, the child got stuck under the car. The car was moving at a very high speed and it crossed the footpath. People gathered around and with great difficulty the child was pulled out from under the car. Eyewitnesses said that the child died on the spot. People informed the police control room. The child and his father were taken to Sector-16 hospital, where the child was declared dead. The child's father has been admitted to Sector-16 hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Pankaj was going to get medicine for Arnaav
Arnav's uncle Vikas told that his health was not good. So Pankaj sat in front on the bike and was going to the market to buy medicine for him. He had just left the house when a car hit his bike at the turn. At the time of the accident, the car was coming from Sector-24 market and Pankaj was at the turn near his house. People present nearby told that the speed of the car was very high. Vikas told that Pankaj has only one son and a three-year-old daughter.
