
It has now become simpler and digital than ever for crores of PF members of the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) to avail services related to their PF account. Whereas earlier employees had to visit cyber cafes or offices for UAN activation, viewing PF passbook or claiming withdrawal, now the official mobile platform of the Central Government ‘UMANG’ (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance – UMANG) app A one-stop solution has been created. EPFO’s key services are made available 24×7 on this integrated app, allowing any employee to fulfill his/her needs in just a few minutes through a smartphone.
To use any online facility related to PF account, it is mandatory to activate the 12 digit Universal Account Number (UAN). EPFO has now launched the facility of UAN activation through state-of-the-art Aadhaar based Face Authentication Technology (FAT) on Umang App:

Go to EPFO section in Umang App and click on ‘UAN Services Through Face Auth’ option.

Once you complete the face scan with Aadhaar number and mobile OTP, your UAN is immediately activated and the password is sent to your registered mobile number.
Passbook service is most useful to check whether the PF and company’s share deducted from salary every month is being deposited in the account or not:

Go to ‘Employee Centric Services’ in the app and ‘View Passbook’ Select option.

Enter your UAN number and log in with OTP.

After this, by clicking on the member ID of the concerned company, the total deposited amount, employee and employer contribution, pension share (EPS) and annual interest credited by EPFO will be clearly visible.

Users can also download the complete passbook in PDF format directly to their phones as per their requirement.
To withdraw money from PF in case of medical emergency, home repair, children’s higher education, marriage or job loss, quick online claim facility is available on Umang App:

‘Raise Claim’ Go to the option and enter your UAN and Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Verify the last 4 digits of the bank account and select the withdrawal type (partial or full).

Fill Form 31 (Advance Withdrawal), Form 19 (Full and Final Settlement) or Form 10C (Pension Withdrawal), upload the photo of bank check or passbook and submit the form. For this, there is no need to get any paper document attested by the company.
If you have applied for PF advance or final withdrawal, you do not need to worry about knowing the status of money transfer:

Here you get live updates of claim submission, field officer verification, approval and date of fund credit through NEFT in your bank account.
If your company has deducted the PF amount but not deposited it into the account, or your claim has been rejected without any solid reason, a complaint can be filed directly from the Umang app:

of the app ‘Register Grievance’ Go to the option, select the category of your complaint and lodge the complaint by attaching the necessary documents.

As soon as the complaint is filed, a unique registration number is received.

‘View Status’ And ‘Send Reminder’ Through the option you can track the resolution of the complaint and also send reminders to EPFO officials in case of delay.
