5 naxalites including one with a reward of Rs 1 lakh surrendered

Bijapur, July 31 (HS). As a result of the joint efforts being made by DRG and Bastar Fighter under the Naxal eradication campaign being run in the district and the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the Chhattisgarh government and the expansion of the ongoing camps, five Naxalites including one carrying a reward of one lakh have surrendered today on Wednesday.

During the martyrdom week of Naxalites, Mangu Potam father Dula resident of Kudmer Bhattumpara police station Mirtur district Bijapur of Bhairamgarh Area Committee, designation Pomra RPC DKMS President (reward one lakh) under Bhairamgarh Area Committee, active since 1996, Payku Telam father Hunga Telam resident Madpal Dhurvapara police station Mirtur district Bijapur, designation Bechapal RPC militia platoon “A” section member, active since 2002, Meena Telam father Budharu Telam resident Madpal Patelpara police station Mirtur district Bijapur, designation Bechapal RPC militia platoon member, active since 2011 have surrendered today. Similarly, Raju Telam father Lachhu Telam resident Madpal Dhurvapara police station Mirtur district Bijapur, active since 2021, and Mallesh Potam alias Mallum father Pandu Potam resident Madpal Patelpara police station Mirtur district Bijapur, designation Pomra RPC Militia Platoon Commander, active since the year 2013, has surrendered before Superintendent of Police Bijapur Dr. Jitendra Kumar Yadav, Sub Divisional Officer of Police Bhairamgarh Taresh Sahu, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ops Sudip Sarkar, Deputy Superintendent of Police DRG Bijapur Vinit Sahu.

The said surrendered Naxalite was involved in the robbery of Sarpanch Masa's house in village Patarpara in the year 2004. In the year 2007, he was involved in the robbery of Sarpanch Jeera Hapka of Pondum by beating him. In the year 2023, he was also involved in the murder of Mitthu Madvi by setting up a Jan Adalat in village Tudem. Surrendered Naxalites have been given Rs 25,000 each in cash under the encouragement and surrender policy. According to the information received from the police, a total of 142 Naxalites have surrendered before the police in the year 2024 so far. At the same time, 310 Naxalites involved in various Naxalite incidents have been arrested.
