Rajkot: The suspected Chandipura virus in Gujarat has raised concerns of the health department for the past few days. The suspected virus, which was first reported in Sabarkantha and Aravalli districts of North Gujarat, is slowly spreading to other districts of Gujarat. In Saurashtra too, 5 suspected cases of Chandipura virus were reported at Rajkot Civil Hospital, all of whom died and the district health department has become alert.
Out of the 5 suspected patients undergoing treatment at Rajkot Civil Hospital, two from Morbi, one from Paddhari, one from Jetpur and one from Madhya Pradesh have died. At present, the health department has taken samples of all of them and sent them to the laboratory for testing.
The health system has also become alert regarding Chandipura virus. There are 100 beds in the pediatric department of Rajkot Civil Hospital. Out of which 7 beds have been set aside for suspected patients of Chandipura virus. It also has ICU facility.
Along with this, experts have asked to immediately seek medical advice if symptoms like fever, headache, body ache and diarrhea-vomiting are seen in children. Along with this, the health department has started taking necessary steps to prevent the spread of the virus. At the same time, the health department has also requested people to take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of this virus.
