44-year-old Nsubuga joins Uganda's team for ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B

Kampala, 26 October (Hindustan Reporter). Uganda has included 44-year-old Frank Nsubuga in the national squad for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup Challenge B. Uganda will host the World Cup qualifier tournament in the cities of Kampala and Entebbe between November 4-16, 2024.

The squad, selected by head coach Abhay Sharma and the association selection committee, has a mix of experienced players and young talent including former national under-19 captain Pascal Murungi.

Coach Sharma also appointed a new captain Ali Shah, who is a dynamic all-rounder and will replace Brian Masaba. New captain Ali said, “This is not going to be a challenging task for me. Everyone in this team knows their role and tries to play it.”

The Challenge League B tournament is an important pathway to the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. Hosts Uganda will open their campaign against Singapore on November 6 and play Tanzania three days later. Uganda will also face teams from Hong Kong, Italy and Bahrain.

Before the tournament begins, Uganda will play three practice series against Bahrain in the eastern city of Jinja.

Uganda's full squad is as follows – Raghav Dhawan, Juma Miyagi, Brian Masaba, Srideep Mangela,⁠ Fred Achelam, Kenneth Waiswa, Alpesh Ramazani, Pascal Murungi, Henry Sensendo, Riyazat Ali Shah,⁠ Frank Nsubuga, Cosmas Kyvutha, Robinson Obuya, Dinesh Nakrani.
